As Old As Me

by Joyce

I hope you get to be as old as me.
To soak in many golden moments;
To see the world from wrinkled eyes.

To experience profound loves;
And witness:
Natural, awestruck happenstances.

To stop and take in all the sounds,
And then, listen to the quiet;
Appreciating the solitude.

When you are as old as me,
Use time as your pay check.
Indulge in the presence of leisure.

As you dance to a slower pace
Savor all of your movements,
The gestures of your soul.

Let the time ebb and flow.
Like sleepy laps of the ocean,
Drawing you towards shore.

Let Me Find You In Love

by Joyce

Let me find you in the love of the family that you have given me.
May I be reminded,
That your love lives on through me,
And through them.

Let me be accepting of that interchange and,
Let me be curious rather than cautious and hesitant.
Fill me with gratitude,
So that I may know them and touch them.
Lead and guide me,
So that I may quiet my judgments and criticisms.

Let me recognize my limits.
Learning to pause, for just a moment,
Taking something in.
Allowing myself to be filled,
Without overwhelm.

Coming from that experience,
Let me live in love…
Going forward towards those who I love,
And who love me.

A Day with You

by Joyce

A Day with You,
I am Filled with Joy and Pride.
A Day with You
Makes All of Heaven on My Side.

A Day with You
I am Rich, Full and Strong.
A Day with You
Delights Me and Fills Me with Song.

A Day with You,
Is All the Sunshine in Your Eyes.
A Day with You,
Is the Sparkle in Your Smile.

A Day with You,
In All the Small Ways,
The Slight Glance that Glitters,
The Acquaintance of Your Face.
The Softness of Your Being,
I Long for Your Embrace.

Because of You,
I Fly on the Side of the Sun that Glows,
Gliding from Sun Streaks to Clouds that Flow.
Drifting Into the Deep Blue Sky
Towards the Essence of the World around Me.

A Day with You.

The Airport Piano Man

by Joyce

Watching his hands rolling over the keys,
Creating soft tones of melodies.
Adding mellifluous vibrations,
To the hustle and flurry,
As travelers hurry by.

Hand and finger motions
Pass over the ivories,
Like an assiduous spider,
Weaving a musical web.

Fingers flow fluently like butterflies,
Lighting on flowers in the spring.
The piano man, oblivious
To the waves and squalls of people,
Continues to stroke gently through the spray.

The cadence of the strings,
Skipping and vibrating,
Creates a melody
Of Optimism and Solitude.

What a gift to us all,
Travelers passing though.
The melodious sounds of,
The Airport Piano Man

The Commitment

by Joyce

A conversation with my husband 11/16/2016

“Thanks for being so good to me and I’m sorry I am not stronger. I’ll try harder.”
“It’s not your fault. Your body is just wearing out.”
“Well, there aught to be a sensible way for that to happen.”

The Commitment

(For those whose loved ones are near but yet so far away)

When you are confused,
And don’t know the way,
I will gently guide you,
For most of the day.

And when you can’t recall my name,
Or who I am,
I will take your hand,
And let you know its ok.

For although our relationship has changed,
You are the one I will,
Cherish, love, and care for,
For the rest of your days.

The task is not an easy one.
For either of us in many ways.
And yet, each day brings us more time

To love in a very intimate way.
